A Book Circle on Social Justice and Anti-racism (online)
February 5 @ 3:00 pm - March 5 @ 4:30 pm America/New_York
SHAMBHALA BOOK CIRCLE ON ANTIRACISM AND SOCIAL JUSTICE
Sunday February 5th and Sunday March 5th. 3-4:30pm on zoom.
Our next book selection for the Shambhala Book Circle on Social Justice is
An Indigenous People’s History of the US by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz
This book begins with a fascinating description of the sophisticated Native
American civilizations that existed before the European colonists arrived.
Large cities, roads and cultivated lands spread across north, middle and
southern Americas. And then it continues on to detail the devastating
impact of colonialist intentions, attitudes and forces on these first people
that still continues today. This unblinking recounting is a call to awaken
awareness of American history from the point of view of Native Americans
who now stand up to speak their truth.
Because this is a big read, we invite you to join us for two first Sundays,
February 5th and March 5th at 3-4:30 for a zoom conversation. Come
ready to discuss what moved you, what you learned and what you think
calls for change in the US today.
